Volendam Portraits

A few weeks back a friend at work got his portrait taken with his family at a town up north. They got dressed up in traditional early 20th century dress and outfitted with props and a nice backdrop. A fell in love with it and decided that before I leave this place, I have to get one of those pictures. Well, it happened sooner than I could have hoped!


Kris and Ilona were kind enough to take Rachel and I up to Volendam one rainy weekend afternoon. Once we first got to Volendam we stopped for a hot chocolate to get warmed up, then we wandering along the touristy street debating over which of the many portrait shops to get our picture taken. Finally settling on one we had a great time getting dressed up and choosing our props. Between the shoot and picking up the prints we took some time to look around the little alley's behind the tourist strip. It's a pretty adorable part of town!
